LEYENDA GUITAR
is a private guitar teaching practice that has been inpiring guitarists in
the Yukon for over 20 years. Many people ask me,
'what does
Leyenda mean'?
When I first started my guitar study, now over 40 years ago, I was
delighted when I learned how to play my very first classical piece.
Leyenda, also know as Austrias was composed by piano virtuoso
Isaac Albeniz, and made famous for guitar by the classical master
Andreas Segovia. His transcription remains to this day as the
quintessential piece in the practicing guitarist's repertoire.
For me, Leyenda represents a starting place for my students as it
teaches some important and fundamental techniques for playing the
quitar. Synchronizing the left and right hand is a challenging step for
beginners. Overcoming this hurdle while, at the same time, learning to
play a beautiful and memorable piece is very satisfying. Taking
beginners through this classical fingerstyle territory helps students
realize their own potential and gives them the confidence they need to
develop a well rounded practice routine that supports all aspects of
guitar playing, technique and repertoire.
If you would like to learn this famous classical fingerstyle piece drop
me a line and I can help you increase your understanding and
knowledge of a most remarkable instrument.
